Job Description

Associated Recreation Council (ARC) is a renowned organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for Seattle residents through its partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation. ARC is committed to providing inclusive, high-quality recreational programs, licensed childcare services, and lifelong learning opportunities. Their programs are designed to engage the community and foster a connection between residents and their vibrant natural surroundings. ARC plays a crucial role in maintaining and activating Seattle's public parks, creating welcoming and active spaces for all to enjoy. The organization emphasizes diversity, inclusion, and equity, ensuring that its services meet the needs of the community and comply with all government regulations.

The role of Lead Park Concierge offers an exceptional opportunity for individuals who enjoy working outdoors and possess strong customer service skills. This full-time position, with a competitive salary of $28 per hour, involves working in some of Seattle's most beautiful and busy downtown parks, including Cal Anderson, City Hall, Hing Hay Park, Victor Steinbrueck Park, Denny Park, and Pioneer Square Park. The Lead Park Concierge is instrumental in ensuring these parks remain safe, welcoming, and active public spaces. This role extends beyond simple concierge duties to include mentoring and potentially supervising other Park Concierge staff when the Park Concierge Supervisor is unavailable.

The Lead Park Concierge works a flexible schedule across seven days a week, typically between 10:00 am and 6:30 pm, with the possibility of up to 40 hours a week depending on the season and staffing needs. This position occasionally includes event evenings where concierges support various community and cultural events, thereby contributing to the vibrant life of the city. The role is multifaceted, encompassing mentorship, operations management, extensive customer service, and safety and risk management. It requires excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with diverse park users, including families, individuals, community groups, and performers like buskers.

In addition to operational tasks such as setting up event equipment, managing kiosks, and overseeing park cleanliness, the Lead Park Concierge performs important supervisory duties like onboarding new staff and handling communications in the absence of the supervisor. These responsibilities ensure that the team operates smoothly and the parks maintain their reputation as safe, well-managed spaces. The role also involves collaborative coordination with Park Rangers and the Seattle Police Department to address any issues related to park security and public safety.

Those in this role are expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity, fostering an environment that is welcoming to everyone. The Lead Park Concierge is a public relations representative, tasked with providing accurate information about city parks and events, conducting patron surveys, and addressing issues diplomatically with park visitors. This role demands physical stamina as it requires working in various outdoor weather conditions, moving frequently throughout the park area, and occasionally lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.

ARC offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) retirement plan, paid time off, paid sick leave, and 12 paid holidays annually. This role is ideal for enthusiastic, community-driven individuals who are passionate about parks, customer service, and outdoor work. ARC is actively interviewing and encouraging qualified candidates to apply promptly to join this vital team that contributes significantly to Seattle's park system and community vibrancy.
