The role being offered is for an Extrusion Operator at Novolex, where packaging innovation meets career opportunities. This position offers hourly compensation ranging from $20 to $28, influenced by experience, with additional incentives including a $1 per hour shift differential and $2 per hour for perfect attendance per pay period. As an Extrusion Operator, the incumbent will work under the general direction of the Extrusion Manager and designated Shift Supervisor to manage day-to-day production operations focused on manufacturing high-density polyethylene (HDPE) film.

Key responsibilities include ensuring safety compliance, efficient operation of extrusion lines, maintaining product quality, and managing resources effectively. The position features multiple levels of advancement based on demonstrated operator knowledge, skills, and departmental metrics. The role demands a hands-on approach to troubleshooting, intermediate repairs, and proactive involvement in training and overseeing other department employees. Operators will also be expected to maintain accurate production and materials records, conduct quality assurance through testing and monitoring, and contribute to housekeeping and safety awareness across the department.

Job Requirements

  • Satisfactorily complete training courses as determined by management

Job Duties

  • Understand and follow all JSA's and safety procedures/policies
  • Safely and efficiently set-up and operate extrusion lines to produce high quality HDPE film
  • Operate extrusion lines as needed in accordance with job safety analysis, standard operating procedures, quality procedures, and operator training to meet or exceed productivity requirements and minimize downtime and waste
  • Ensure that proper materials are being used in accordance with procedures
  • Monitor roll weights to ensure the correct gauge is maintained throughout the shift
  • Accurately navigate and input information in production management system
  • Assure proper processing and labeling of film
  • Complete daily production reporting
  • Oversee the safety performance and awareness of the department
  • Maintain housekeeping to expected levels
  • Ensure consistent product quality for the department including testing methods and use of process improvement tools
  • Maintain accurate materials records and adequate inventory of raw materials
  • Assist and train department employees in safety, quality, production, technical knowledge, troubleshooting skills
  • Lead by example by modeling fairness, consistency, and a high level of performance coupled with exemplary work ethic
  • Operate forklift as needed
  • Diagnose and complete intermediate level repairs
  • Maintain and pump materials from Railcars to the Silo(s)
  • Perform other duties as assigned
