The Lead Mixologist position at Boston Harbor Hotel is a vital role within the Food & Beverage department. It is designed for an experienced, passionate, and innovative hospitality professional who excels in mixology and leadership. This full-time, non-exempt position reports directly to the Restaurant Manager and requires flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet the demands of the luxury hotel environment. The Lead Mixologist is responsible for elevating the bar experience by delivering expert knowledge of spirits, wines, beers, and cocktails while adhering to the hotel's luxury service standards. This role not only involves creating and executing seasonal cocktail menus that align with the hotel’s brand but also mentoring and coaching bartenders to ensure consistency, quality, and outstanding beverage service.

The ideal candidate will bring at least three years of bartending experience, preferably within a luxury hotel or fine dining setting, and hold a TIPS Certification or be willing to obtain one. The Lead Mixologist will play a leadership role by serving as a role model for the bar team, helping to foster a professional and welcoming atmosphere. Responsibilities include greeting guests to create positive first impressions, maintaining a neat and organized bar area, adhering to safe alcohol service policies, and managing cash handling procedures. This role demands a mix of creativity, operational expertise, and excellent communication skills to ensure all guest expectations are not only met but exceeded.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years of bartending experience, preferably in a luxury hotel or fine dining environment
  • TIPS certification preferred
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language used in the workplace
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment
  • Must possess basic computational ability
  • Must be able to lift to 30lbs + on a regular and continuous basis
  • Must maintain an organized and pristine work area

Job Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of spirits, wines, beers, cocktail techniques, and beverage trends
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language used in the workplace
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment
  • Must possess basic computational ability
  • Must be able to lift to 30lbs + on a regular and continuous basis
  • Must maintain an organized and pristine work area
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language
  • A second language is desirable

Job Duties

  • Assist with greeting guests, creating a good first impression for the guest experience
  • Completion of all opening and closing side work
  • Design, develop, and execute seasonal and specialty cocktail menus that align with the hotel's luxury brand
  • Full knowledge and descriptions of all wines, liquors and beers in the restaurant, and be able to effectively make recommendations
  • Ensure all cocktails are prepared consistently to established recipes and presentation standards
  • Train, mentor, and coach bartenders on recipes, techniques, luxury service standards, and product knowledge
  • Ability to make specialty cocktails and add inspiration to new menus
