The Lead Metabolic Technician role at Life Time is a key leadership position designed for a skilled and passionate fitness professional who specializes in metabolic assessments and cardiovascular fitness. In this role, you will serve as the club's expert in Active and Resting Metabolic Assessments (AMA and RMA), utilizing science-backed protocols to help members understand their cardiovascular health and improve their conditioning. This position focuses on delivering personalized fitness programs based on metabolic data, educating members on heart rate zones, and driving engagement with heart-rate-based training methods.

As a Lead Metabolic Technician, you will mentor other technicians and fitness trainers to ensure consistent and accurate delivery of metabolic assessments across the club. You will also play a pivotal role in maintaining assessment equipment, tracking member progress, and collaborating with personal trainers and other fitness professionals to promote metabolic health programs. The role demands a comprehensive understanding of exercise physiology, data interpretation, and program design, alongside strong communication skills and a passion for member education. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 6+ months experience delivering active metabolic assessments or similar cardio-based assessments
  • 1+ year experience as a personal trainer, small group coach, or studio instructor
  • Certified personal trainer
  • CPR and AED certified
  • Comfortable with basic data interpretation and exercise physiology principles

Job Qualifications

  • 1+ year experience as a personal trainer, small group coach, or studio instructor
  • Comfortable with basic data interpretation and exercise physiology principles
  • College degree in exercise science or related field preferred

Job Duties

  • Conduct metabolic assessments by delivering AMA and RMA appointments, interpret assessment data, explain heart rate zone results, and develop personalized 4-6 week conditioning programs for each participant
  • Serve as the club’s subject matter expert in heart-rate based conditioning and collaborate with personal trainers and other fitness professionals to drive AMA engagement and educate members on zone-based training
  • Guide and support other metabolic technicians and trainers in understanding and delivering AMA services, assist in training new technicians and ensure consistency in assessment protocols
  • Maintain AMA equipment functionality, monitor mask inventory, ensure accurate calibration, and collaborate with PT Leader to resolve maintenance needs
  • Track appointment completions, maintain accurate member records, and communicate findings to trainers and other relevant team members
  • Engage in required and elective trainings to remain current in heart rate training, aerobic development, and member programming strategies
