Job Description

Staples is a leader in the retail and office supply industry, renowned for its wide range of products and exceptional customer service. It integrates innovative technology with a dedicated workforce to create an efficient supply chain that meets customers’ evolving demands. Staples operates a robust distribution network, including fulfillment centers, fleet services, furniture installation, and professional support teams. The company places high importance on fostering a fun, safe, and inclusive work environment that empowers its employees and drives operational excellence. Spotlighting innovation and collaboration, Staples is devoted to delivering state-of-the-art products and services to its customers while maintaining a culture that supports diversity and inclusion.

The role available is for a Lead Material Handling Equipment Operator within Staples’ supply chain team. This position is vital to the company’s success in ensuring speedy and safe delivery of products to customers. As a Lead Operator, you will take on a leadership role by mentoring and training new material handlers and providing coverage for supervisors when necessary. Your typical workday involves operating forklifts, cherry pickers, turrets, or electric pallet jacks to move products efficiently within the warehouse, while consistently maintaining a safe workspace. The role requires lifting, lowering, and carrying products in a fast-paced setting with a strong focus on safety and cleanliness. Adhering to safety procedures is paramount, and you will be responsible for promoting and enforcing a safety-first work culture.

The position operates on a shift schedule primarily covering 5:30 pm to 12:00 am on Saturdays and 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Sundays, providing flexibility for those seeking weekend work with competitive pay, starting at $25.25 per hour, including a shift differential. Staples supports its employees through various benefits such as paid time off, holiday schedules, discounts both online and in retail, a company 401(k) match, wellness programs focused on physical and mental health, and access to work shoes after 30 days of employment.

This role calls for someone who is certified to operate material handling equipment safely, has at least 12 months of warehouse experience, and demonstrates the ability to maintain an organized and clean work environment. The ability to lift and move up to 100 pounds and stand or walk for extended periods is required. A commitment to embracing Staples’ inclusive culture and safety standards is critical. If you are someone with a proactive approach to safety, enjoy working in a team-driven environment, and meet the physical demands of warehouse work, this role offers a promising opportunity to grow your career in a company that values its employees and their contributions.
