The Technical Lead position at Novolex, located in Brookshire, TX, offers a competitive starting pay rate ranging from $24 to $32 per hour, working the third shift from 11 pm to 7 am. This role encompasses supervisory responsibilities, overseeing Machine Operators and Utility personnel to ensure efficient and timely production line operations. The Technical Lead is a critical point of contact on the production floor, ensuring machines are running at scheduled speeds, products meet quality standards, and production objectives are met safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities include assigning employees to production lines, conducting quality inspections through hourly sample reviews, assisting with machine changeovers and order adjustments, and maintaining machine functionality through cleaning and repairs. The role involves strict adherence to safety policies, compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), food safety protocols, and company standards. The Technical Lead is also responsible for employee performance evaluations, administering disciplinary actions, facilitating training, and managing work area cleanliness and supply logistics.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum five years of manufacturing experience
- Two to five years of machine operator experience
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents
- Basic math proficiency
- Proficient writing abilities
- Self-management and organizational skills
- Good eyesight with no color blindness
- Ability to work the third shift from 11 pm to 7 am
Job Qualifications
- Five years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Two to five years of machine operator experience
- Effective listening, speaking, and writing skills in person and over the phone
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and quality instructions, and procedural manuals
- Competence in completing routine reports and records
- Basic math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing
- Ability to write clearly and concisely using good grammar and professional style
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Good eyesight with no color blindness to detect flaws in color and print setups
Job Duties
- Serve as first line supervisor for Machine Operators and Utility persons
- Assign employees to production lines and ensure all machines run on schedule and at production speed
- Monitor hourly samples to inspect quality and detect defects or waste
- Assist in machine changeovers and order adjustments ensuring timely completion
- Clean and repair machines as necessary
- Ensure work is performed safely and employees comply with safety protocols including PPE and equipment guards
- Submit accurate and timely daily production reports
- Schedule employee breaks and manage relief as needed
- Evaluate employee performance and administer counseling, disciplinary actions, and improvement plans
- Train new employees or delegate training responsibilities
- Maintain adequate supplies for workers
- Ensure work areas are clean and organized
- Refer employee complaints or grievances to Human Resources
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety requirements
- Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by management including food safety tasks
