This job opportunity is for the position of Lead Line Cook, an essential role within the food and beverage team at Hyatt Regency Portland. The Lead Line Cook plays a crucial part in ensuring the kitchen runs efficiently, especially during peak hours, while maintaining the highest standards of food quality and safety. With an hourly wage of $24.75, this position calls for a skilled culinary professional who can handle multiple orders and stations with precision and speed. The Lead Line Cook is responsible for preparing a variety of menu items according to standardized recipes and presentation guidelines, guaranteeing consistency and excellence in every dish served.
In this fast-paced kitchen environment, the Lead Line Cook must utilize strong culinary expertise to execute assigned tasks with accuracy and attention to detail. Responsibilities include managing a single station efficiently, organizing workstations and kitchen areas for optimal workflow, and collaborating effectively with other kitchen team members to facilitate smooth operation. Upholding health and safety standards, including proper sanitation and hygiene, is a key priority in this role. The successful candidate will also be adaptable and willing to take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the overall operation of the kitchen.

Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- previous experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- ability to work flexible hours including nights weekends and holidays
- strong communication skills
- ability to stand for extended periods
- knowledge of health and safety regulations in food handling
- willingness to work as part of a team
- physical stamina and manual dexterity
- food handler certification preferred
Job Qualifications
- experience as a lead line cook preferred
- culinary degree or related hotel experience is preferred
- proficiency in basic cooking skills including knife handling food preparation and cooking techniques
- ability to work effectively and independently on a single station in a high-pressure kitchen environment
- strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality food items
