Job Description

DoorDash is a leading technology and logistics company pioneering innovative kitchen formats designed specifically for the on-demand economy. Their unique kitchens cater primarily to off-premise dining options such as delivery, catering, and pick-up services with minimal physical storefront presence. This modern approach enables merchants to expand their geographic reach, allowing customers convenient access to exciting new restaurants that were previously inaccessible due to distance limitations. DoorDash Kitchens represents a cutting-edge initiative redefining the food service landscape with a focus on efficiency and customer satisfaction.

The role offered is a pivotal position within the DoorDash Kitchen team, involving the hands-on management and culinary execution in the first full-service kitchen on the east coast. The position requires overseeing day-to-day food order execution while maintaining the highest culinary standards and managing kitchen staff effectively. The job involves assisting with team scheduling, inventory management, tracking orders, and ensuring all operations within a professional kitchen run smoothly. This is an opportunity for culinary professionals to work across multiple culinary concepts and bring exciting menus to new audiences.

As a key player in the kitchen, the role involves stepping up as the lead when the manager is not on site, assisting with supervisory responsibilities in line with company policies, and acting as the direct responsible individual (DRI) for essential opening and closing procedures. The person is expected to be a leading example, holding expert knowledge of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and recipes, providing guidance and training to line cooks and prep cooks, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.

This position demands a strong culinary passion, with execution of menu items from scratch following detailed recipes, prep lists, and operational checklists under fast-paced, high-volume conditions. Additionally, the role includes preparing ingredients to exact specifications, maintaining a clean and organized workstation, and ensuring rigorous adherence to sanitation and food safety standards compliant with ServSafe regulations.

The responsibilities also extend to inventory management where the employee accurately receives deliveries, maintains par levels, and organizes stock locations for efficient access. The job involves fostering a team-oriented environment through clear communication, shared problem solving, and mutual support that contributes positively to the overall kitchen culture.

DoorDash seeks individuals who are cuisine-curious with the enthusiasm to cook across diverse culinary styles and who thrive in collaborative team settings. This role offers exposure to innovative restaurant models, particularly delivery-only kitchens, and is ideal for those passionate about consistency from a playbook and eager to make a real impact in a dynamic, evolving company.

As part of the compensation package, the base pay ranges between $18 and $26.50 USD per hour, with final salary determined based on skills, experience, and work location. DoorDash also emphasizes employee well-being by offering a comprehensive benefits suite that includes 401(k) plans with employer matching, paid parental leave, wellness programs, commuter benefits, paid time off, sick leave, medical, dental, vision coverage, disability and life insurance, family-forming assistance, and mental health programs. Flexible paid time off policies vary for salaried and hourly roles, supporting work-life balance and overall employee health.

Joining DoorDash means becoming part of a vibrant organization committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The company prides itself on creating an inclusive workplace free of discrimination and harassment, promoting a culture where all employees, regardless of background or identity, can thrive and innovate. Employees are encouraged to bring their authentic selves and unique perspectives to the table, contributing to DoorDash’s mission to empower local economies and revolutionize how goods and food are accessed globally.
