The role being offered is a key position within this innovative kitchen environment, located on the East Coast, where you will oversee the day-to-day execution of food orders and ensure culinary excellence. As a vital member of the team, you will maintain high culinary standards while managing kitchen staff, scheduling, inventory control, and order tracking. This position involves working across multiple culinary concepts, preparing menu items from scratch, and supporting new restaurant models including delivery-only kitchens.

In your capacity, you will also serve as the acting leader when the Kitchen Manager is not present, responsible for opening and closing the kitchen and championing team responsibility. This role requires a deep understanding of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and recipes, acting as the go-to expert for kitchen processes. You will mentor line cooks and prep cooks to ensure compliance with operational standards and foster a supportive team environment to continuously improve kitchen practices.

Organizational excellence and food safety are priorities in this role, as you will maintain sanitation standards, monitor inventory levels, and ensure all kitchen operations follow the company's rigorous safety guidelines. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of culinary experience in high-volume kitchens
  • minimum 1 year leadership experience in a kitchen environment
  • valid NYC Food Protection Certificate
  • ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • strong communication and teamwork skills
  • physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform kitchen tasks safely

Job Qualifications

  • 1-2 years or more experience cooking in high-volume kitchen environments such as fast-casual QSR or from-scratch restaurants
  • at least 1 year of leadership experience in a kitchen setting including training and directing cooks
  • experience preparing food from scratch making hot and cold sauces and basic knife skills
  • knowledge of grilling frying sautéing and other cooking methods according to recipes and standards
  • possess a valid NYC Food Protection Certificate
  • highly organized with ability to work well under pressure
  • demonstrated attention to detail speed and accuracy in task execution

Job Duties

  • Oversee day-to-day execution of food orders maintaining culinary standards and staff oversight
  • assist with team scheduling managing inventory and tracking orders
  • act as DRI for opening and closing procedures when manager is not onsite
  • maintain full understanding of SOPs and recipes and serve as go-to person for questions
  • train and mentor line cooks and prep cooks ensuring SOP compliance
  • collaborate with management to suggest and implement operational improvements
  • execute menu items from scratch following recipes prep lists and checklists
  • prepare ingredients for assigned stations ensuring labeling and dating
  • clean and organize dishes to maintain smooth kitchen operations
  • set-up and break down assigned stations maintaining food safety standards
  • maintain standards of sanitation safety and cleanliness according to ServSafe guidelines
  • receive and organize inventory maintaining par levels and storing items properly
  • communicate effectively with team supporting and assisting members as needed
