Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience as a line cook or in a related culinary position
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation
  • Effective communication skills
  • Capability to follow detailed instructions and recipes
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weight
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience as a line cook or similar kitchen role
  • Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation practices
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
  • Strong multitasking and time management skills
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities
  • Basic knife skills and culinary techniques
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings weekends and holidays
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment and tools

Job Duties

  • Promote work and act in a manner consistent with the mission of the restaurant
  • Show up to scheduled shifts on time and in proper uniform
  • Inspect clean and maintain food preparation and serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food handling
  • Ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperatures by regulating kitchen equipment
  • Ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking quality and rotating stock
  • Comply with standard portion sizes cooking methods and kitchen policies
  • Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations
  • Handle store and rotate all food products and supplies according to policies
  • Turn or stir foods to ensure even cooking
  • Season and cook food according to recipes or experience
  • Bake roast broil and steam meats fish vegetables and other foods
  • Weigh measure and mix ingredients according to recipes
  • Portion arrange and garnish food and serve to servers or guests
  • Observe and test foods for sufficient cooking using temping smelling or piercing
  • Follow proper plate presentation and garnish setup for dishes
  • Wash peel cut and seed fruits and vegetables
  • Carve and trim meats for hot or cold service or sandwiches
  • Assist in food prep assignments during off-peak periods
  • Substitute for or assist other cooks during emergencies or rush periods
  • Close the kitchen following the closing checklist
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offer suggestions for improvement
  • Coordinate with and assist fellow employees to meet guests needs
  • Fill in for fellow employees where needed to ensure guest service and operations
  • Complete reasonable tasks assigned by supervisor or manager
  • Consult with supervisory staff to plan menus considering costs and special needs
  • Keep records and accounts
  • Coordinate supervise work of kitchen staff
  • Prepare relishes and hors d'oeuvres
  • Estimate food consumption requisition or purchase supplies
  • Butcher and dress animals fowl or shellfish or cut and bone meat prior to cooking
