The Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe is currently seeking culinary associates to join their food and beverage team on a full-time basis. This non-management position offers an hourly wage of $25.94 and primarily involves daytime and weekend shifts, providing a dynamic work environment that balances steady hours with engaging culinary responsibilities. As part of its commitment to employee development, The Ritz-Carlton has partnered with the Rouxbe Cooking School to offer associates access to online culinary training through a self-paced platform. This opportunity enables employees of all experience levels to enhance their skills with professionally designed, visually appealing lessons that can be immediately applied in the kitchen.
In this role, culinary associates are responsible for preparing special meals or substitute items as needed, regulating the temperature of cooking equipment such as ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters, and ensuring proper thawing and handling of frozen foods. Attention to detail is vital as associates must maintain proper food portioning, arrangement, and garnish, and keep accurate food logs to monitor inventory and quality. The team member will also communicate efficiently with chefs and service staff regarding menu specials, out-of-stock items, and utilization of excess food in daily specials. Maintaining high food quality and presentation standards is critical to uphold The Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe's reputation for excellence.
Beyond food preparation, associates are expected to support management by assisting in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating, and coaching employees. Acting as a role model, they uphold company policies including safety and security procedures, report maintenance needs or workplace incidents, and ensure their personal appearance and uniform align with the hotel's professional standards. Confidentiality of proprietary information and protection of company assets are also important responsibilities.

The physical demands of the job include standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods, performing movements such as bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping, and lifting or carrying objects up to 25 pounds without assistance. This position occasionally requires flexibility to perform other duties as needed under supervisor direction.
Preferred qualifications for this role include a technical, trade, or vocational school degree related to the culinary arts, along with at least three years of relevant work experience. While supervisory experience is not required, candidates should be motivated to grow their culinary career through ongoing training and practical application at a world-renowned resort.
