Job Description
Stericycle, now part of WM, is a prominent U.S.-based business-to-business services company specializing in compliance-based solutions that safeguard people, promote health and well-being, and protect the environment. With over 30 years of experience, the company has evolved from a small startup focused on medical waste management to a leader in various complex and highly regulated sectors. Stericycle serves healthcare organizations and commercial businesses of all sizes, delivering safe solutions for managing materials that could potentially spread disease, contaminate the environment, or compromise identities. This commitment to safety, responsibility, and sustainability defines the company's mission and drives its growth and innovation strategies.
The role offered is an Industrial Maintenance position within the company’s facility, designed for experienced professionals who thrive in dynamic maintenance environments. The position involves comprehensive maintenance responsibilities, including preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance of all plant equipment. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of the Maintenance Manager, ensuring machinery operates efficiently and safely. This extensive role requires hands-on expertise in repairing, troubleshooting, and maintaining equipment such as fire tube boilers, steam delivery systems, air handling units, commercial washers, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, conveyor systems, incinerator process equipment, steam turbine and electrical generator systems, as well as air pollution control devices like bag houses and carbon beds.
The position works on the "C Crew" schedule, covering Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and every other Wednesday from 5 AM to 5 PM, offering a competitive hourly wage of $45.00 paid weekly. This schedule and compensation structure are designed to attract skilled industrial maintenance workers committed to ensuring operational reliability and safety.
Key responsibilities extend beyond routine maintenance; the role includes planning and scheduling in-house repairs, leading the maintenance team, coordinating with outside contractors, and conducting safety compliance activities to uphold Stericycle’s safety standards. The position demands proficiency in light electrical maintenance, documentation of completed work, and providing training and support to technicians, operators, and laborers. Safety is a paramount concern, and candidates must actively promote and comply with all safety regulations while maintaining clean and orderly workspaces.
Candidates must possess a minimum of three years of relevant industrial maintenance experience and hold a valid driver's license, reflecting the necessity for reliability and the ability to perform maintenance tasks that may occasionally require on-site transportation or equipment operation. A strong knowledge base in hydraulics, pneumatics, basic electrical systems, pumps, and plumbing is essential. The ideal candidate also brings experience operating forklifts, man-lifts, and rigging equipment, essential for safe and effective maintenance operations.
Additional qualifications that enhance candidacy include journeyman-level experience, boiler and electrical licenses, instrumentation and controls certifications, welding skills—including the use of acetylene torches and TIG welders—and familiarity with lockout/tagout and permit confined space programs. Basic computer skills, especially in Excel and Word, are desirable, supporting effective reporting and documentation.
Stericycle offers robust benefits that contribute to the overall wellbeing and satisfaction of its employees. These include medical, dental, vision, prescription coverage, and flexible spending accounts for healthcare and dependent care. Additional perks include life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance, employee assistance programs, tuition reimbursement, paid vacation and sick time, and 401k plans with an employee stock purchase option. These benefits reflect Stericycle’s commitment to supporting its workforce comprehensively.
Stericycle is committed to diversity and inclusion, as an equal opportunity employer providing fair consideration to all qualified applicants regardless of race, gender, age, disability, veteran status, or other protected characteristics. The company also supports workplace accommodations for individuals with disabilities in accordance with applicable laws and company policies.
This job represents an exciting opportunity for industrial maintenance professionals eager to join a reputable, environmentally responsible, and safety-focused organization. It combines technical challenges with leadership opportunities and a strong supportive culture, making it a compelling choice for qualified individuals seeking both career growth and meaningful work.
