The role of Lead Host/Hostess at The Post Oak Hotel carries significant responsibility to ensure every guest is greeted and welcomed according to Forbes’ exacting standards for hotel dining and reservations. This position focuses primarily on the Bloom & Bee restaurant, where the Lead Host/Hostess provides an exemplary introduction to its ambiance and offerings. Beyond guest interaction, the Lead Host/Hostess leads a team of hostesses, mentoring and ensuring they perform their duties to the highest levels of service. The role involves managing all aspects of the hostess function, including expert knowledge of restaurant operations, private dining setups, patio arrangements, full buyouts, and the use of advanced reservation systems like OpenTable to optimize seating efficiency and occupancy. The Lead Host/Hostess also takes charge of coordinating menu updates and ensuring consistent communication with events teams to facilitate bookings and inquiries. Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the front-of-house areas, overseeing seating arrangements, and monitoring the overall dining experience to uphold Forbes Five-Star standards are key parts of the role. Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years experience preferred 5-star hotel setting as a lead hostess
  • Must have working knowledge of OpenTable and other data tracking tools
  • Excellent communication skills and problem resolution experience
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights weekends and holidays
  • Must have physical capability to carry a tray up to 25lbs of food or dirty dishes and stand for prolonged periods
  • Previous hotel experience luxury or Forbes experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Maintain expert knowledge of restaurant operations including private dining patio setups full buyouts and reservation systems
  • Train and onboard new hostesses ensuring adherence to service standards phone etiquette and reservation procedures
  • Manage and optimize reservation systems such as OpenTable to maximize seating efficiency and occupancy
  • Oversee menu updates including new and promotional offerings ensuring accuracy across platforms and materials
  • Coordinate with events teams by handling inquiries and sending follow-up communications to potential clients
  • Organize seating arrangements for standard and special group needs including table setups and arrangements
  • Ensure menus and front-of-house areas are clean current well-stocked and maintained to high standards
  • Monitor dining room operations including seating flow guest safety and overall service quality
  • Uphold performance excellence standards such as Forbes Five-Star and maintain strong communication and professionalism across the team
