Job Description

Pilot Company is a prominent network of travel centers operating extensively throughout the United States and Canada. With a workforce surpassing 30,000 team members and a vast footprint of more than 750 retail and fueling locations across 44 states and six Canadian provinces, Pilot Company stands as a leader in the travel center and energy sector. Established in 1958 by Jim A. Haslam II and currently overseen by CEO Adam Wright, the company has fostered a legacy built on its founding values, a people-first culture, and an unwavering commitment to supporting the communities in which it operates. Its energy and logistics division is a critical player in fuel supply, managing one of the largest tanker fleets and delivering essential services to oil operations in some of the busiest basins throughout North America.

The company’s operations span a wide array of specialties including supply chain management, retail operations, logistics, technology and digital innovation, construction, maintenance, human resources, finance, and sales and marketing. This extensive portfolio ensures that Pilot Company not only fuels vehicles but also powers growth and innovation within the industry. The organization takes pride in fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment, giving equal employment opportunity to all qualified candidates regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, veteran status, or other protected characteristics. Military personnel are especially encouraged to apply, emphasizing the company’s respect for service and dedication to diversified talent.

The role offered is crucial in maintaining seamless retail and fuel transaction processes at Pilot Company’s travel centers. The position is responsible for leading shifts involving one or two cashiers while ensuring efficient handling of various cash, credit, and debit transactions. Employees in this role are tasked with completing precise end-of-shift reports and rigorously following company and local legal guidelines, especially concerning restricted merchandise such as alcohol and tobacco. A highly organized and clean workspace is essential, and employees are encouraged to apply suggested sales strategies that promote and sell products effectively.

Providing excellent customer service is a hallmark of the role, with responsibilities that include handling guest complaints, resolving conflicts among team members, and communicating issues promptly to management. The individual also oversees break schedules and team member placements during shifts, demonstrating strong leadership and operational skills. In addition to financial transactions, the role extends to supporting various travel center functions including maintaining deli areas, cleaning public facilities, stocking merchandise, and preparing coffee. Employees are expected to model behaviors that align with the company’s core purpose, ensuring that both guests and team members receive the highest level of support and service.

Compliance with all company rules, regulations, policies, and procedures is mandatory, reinforcing the company’s commitment to a safe and ethical working environment. This position also offers competitive pay rates starting between $15.00 and $18.75 per hour and comes with a comprehensive benefits package including fuel discounts, nationwide medical, dental and vision plans, 401(k) savings plans, flexible spending accounts, adoption assistance, tuition reimbursement, flexible scheduling, and weekly pay. This role represents an opportunity to join an established leader in the travel center industry, contributing to a team that fuels North America and supports both employees and customers alike.
