The role of Shift Lead Cashier at Pilot Company offers an opportunity to contribute directly to the daily operations of a bustling travel center. This position involves processing merchandise and fuel transactions while overseeing a small team of cashiers to ensure efficient and accurate service. The Shift Lead Cashier will be responsible for managing all types of cash, credit, and debit transactions, as well as completing end-of-shift reports and following strict company guidelines on the sale of restricted merchandise such as alcohol and tobacco. Maintaining a clean and organized work environment is essential, along with utilizing suggested selling techniques to promote products effectively. The role also demands strong interpersonal skills to manage guest complaints and team member conflicts, ensuring all interactions are resolved according to company policies.
In addition to overseeing shifts, the Shift Lead Cashier will coordinate break schedules and team member placements to optimize workflow. Participation in other travel center functions such as deli maintenance, cleaning restrooms and showers, stocking, and coffee making is also expected, highlighting the diverse nature of this position. Job Duties
- Lead a shift of one-to-two cashiers to process all types of cash, credit, and debit transactions
- complete end-of-shift reports and close out procedures
- follow company and local guidelines with regards to the sale of any restricted merchandise items such as alcohol, tobacco
- maintain an organized and clean work area
- use suggested selling methods to promote and sell products
- ensure quality service is delivered to every guest
- handle guest complaints and issues by following company processes and guidelines
- resolve team member conflict
- communicate issues to management
- determine break schedules and team member placement during shift
- assist with other travel center functions such as maintaining deli, cleaning showers and restrooms, stocking, making coffee
- model behaviors that support the company's common purpose
- ensure guests and team members are supported at the highest level
- ensure all activities are in compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
- complete other duties as assigned
