The Lead Grocery Bakery/Deli Worker role located at the DECA-KINGS BAY NSB facility is a full-time position offering a competitive pay rate of $19.53 per hour. This role embodies a dynamic and integral function within the food service operations, acting as a master multitasker and a quality-of-life improver within the grocery, bakery, and deli departments. As a Lead Worker, you will provide crucial support to management by overseeing key functions and employees during business hours, ensuring smooth operations and superior customer experiences.

Your responsibilities will include assisting in the preparation, presentation, and serving of various food items in cafeteria, delicatessen, and bakery settings. You may be involved in preparing and cooking food, receiving and unloading deliveries, managing stock, and handling special customer orders or payment transactions. The position requires adaptability to varying workdays and shifts, with open availability preferred, highlighting the necessity for flexibility in a fast-paced, client-driven environment.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum one year of related work experience
  • valid driver’s license
  • ability to work varying shifts with open availability preferred
  • reliable attendance and punctuality
  • ability to follow safety and sanitation guidelines
  • physical capability to perform duties including standing for extended periods and lifting
  • excellent customer service skills

Job Duties

  • Provide support to management in daily oversight of key functions and employees
  • serve as cafeteria, delicatessen, and bakery worker helping in preparation, presentation, and serving of food items
  • assist in preparing, cooking, receiving and unloading trucks, and storing stock
  • take special orders or unusual food requests from customers
  • process payment transactions from customers
  • attend work and show for scheduled shift on time with regularity
  • perform other duties as assigned based on business necessities and client requirements
