Job Description
Memorial Health University Medical Center is a prominent healthcare institution located in Savannah, Georgia, dedicated to providing high-quality patient care across southeast Georgia and southern South Carolina. Established in 1955, this 600-plus bed hospital serves as a regional referral center for a variety of specialized medical services including heart care, cancer care, trauma care, children's care, high-risk pregnancies, and neonatal intensive care. It is distinguished by housing the region's only Level I trauma center and children’s hospital, alongside being home to the Savannah campus of Mercer University School of Medicine. Memorial Health has built a reputation not only for advanced medical technologies and highly trained physicians but also for cultivating a culture of care and compassion that extends to its patients, staff, and the surrounding community.
Joining Memorial Health University Medical Center means becoming part of an organization that values and invests deeply in its employees. With a commitment from HCA Healthcare to invest up to $300 million in programs supporting their team members over a three-year period, employees benefit from robust development opportunities in a supportive and innovative environment.
The role of Lead Food and Nutrition Services at Memorial Health University Medical Center is a key position responsible for coordinating the operations and activities of the Food and Nutrition Services Department across assigned hospital locations. This leadership role involves ensuring the delivery of consistent, high-quality service within a sanitary environment and compliance with all State, Local, Federal, and Joint Commission regulations. The Lead Food and Nutrition Services Coordinator plays a pivotal role in evaluating current systems and initiating improvements to enhance service efficiency and quality, reporting findings and suggestions to the department manager.
The Lead Food and Nutrition Services role supports department leadership to ensure daily operational goals are met across food service areas including patient and non-patient food service, employee cafeteria, doctor’s dining room, catering, and floor stock. By coordinating and supervising these functions, the Lead ensures that food and nutrition services are delivered aseptically and aesthetically pleasing while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards such as TJC, OSHA, and EEOC.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals with a background in food services or hospitality—preferably with experience in healthcare settings—who possess leadership skills and a commitment to operational excellence and patient satisfaction. The position requires a Level 1 Food Hygiene Certificate and relevant food handler certifications aligning with local and state regulations.
Memorial Health’s total rewards package supports the health, career, and life of its employees, offering comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and behavioral health benefits; wellbeing support; paid time off and family leave; financial resources including a 401(k) plan with a full match on contributions; educational assistance; and additional benefits supporting fertility, adoption, life insurance, and identity theft protection. This comprehensive benefits plan ensures that employees have access to the resources needed to thrive both personally and professionally in a dynamic healthcare environment.
As a part of HCA Healthcare, recognized as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies, Memorial Health University Medical Center embodies a commitment to ethical practices and community wellness. Those who join the team become part of a family of more than 270,000 dedicated professionals. The organization’s strong values and commitment to excellence provide an enriching workplace experience where employees are respected, supported, and given the tools to succeed.
