The role of Lead Mechanic at Vestis is crucial in maintaining the company's fleet vehicle operations. This position is a hands-on leadership role based in the Market Center location, typically working alongside one or two additional mechanics. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- VO - Tech graduate
- Associates degree in Automotive Technology or equivalent on the job training preferred
- 6 years or more experience in all phases of fleet vehicle mechanical repairs including general maintenance and repair, wiring, engine overhaul and preventative maintenance scheduling
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, vehicle maintenance and applicable state vehicle laws
- Proficient in preventive maintenance control systems and in parts procurement and inventory control
- Ability to multi task and work in a fast pace environment
- Ability to have schedule flexibility to include day, evenings, and/or weekends
Job Qualifications

- Proficient in preventive maintenance control systems and in parts procurement and inventory control
- Ability to multi task and work in a fast pace environment
- Develop and maintain a collaborative and team oriented environment in the shop
Job Duties
- Maintain fleet vehicles with emphasis on preventative maintenance programs to meet 100% compliance of standards
- Assist with scheduling and assigning work to the mechanic or associate mechanic personnel
- Assess and recommend training needs for the fleet mechanic staff to either Regional or Group Manager
- Utilize the AVMS fleet management computer system that allows for shop operation and tracking with a paperless system
- Manage cost control through purchasing, inventory management, as well as training in the area of safety to assure that the vehicle assets are within reasonable costs
- Maintain weekly cost data information and provide the Regional or Group Fleet manager of the financial status of the shop and controllable vehicle costs
- Uphold the quality of standards of the shop, cleanliness, and comply with OSHA standards
