The role of Lead Environmental Services Technician offers a critical responsibility for maintaining a safe and clean work environment for both employees and visitors at the Topeka campus. This is an on-site position requiring applicants to reside in Kansas or Missouri or be willing to relocate as part of their employment conditions. The lead technician serves not only as an active participant in daily environmental service tasks but also as a key point of contact between the evening shift, department leadership, and vendors when supervisors are unavailable. Responsibilities include managing supply requests, maintaining accurate inventory records, completing detailed inspections of floor conditions, and overseeing team schedules and assignments in the supervisor’s absence. The position demands strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to read and understand hazardous material safety instructions, and a general knowledge of equipment and chemicals used in environmental services. Candidates should possess the ability to respond to team issues professionally, perform thorough inspections with high accuracy, and support departmental goals while fostering team engagement and accountability. The job involves physical demands such as standing for long periods, lifting objects up to 20 pounds, bending, stooping, and exposure to dust and cleaning compounds. This position offers a competitive hourly wage range of $20.96 to $26.20, classified as non-exempt Grade 11.
