Join the Staples World Class Supply Chain Team as a Lead Driver, where you will play a crucial role in ensuring timely and safe delivery of office supplies to customers. This full-time position operates from 12:00pm to 8:30pm, Monday through Friday, with a competitive hourly wage ranging from $26.90 to $29.15 based on experience, plus a $1.00 hourly shift differential. In this role, you will be responsible for training and mentoring new delivery drivers, filling in for supervisors, and covering driving duties as needed. You will lead the daily work completion, including scheduling deliveries, performing routing functions, and collaborating with supervisors to resolve any operational issues. You will manage routes for drivers within the facility, assisting with loading vehicles when necessary, all while prioritizing safety and adherence to company policies. As a Lead Driver, you will organize and load products using manifests to optimize delivery routes, ensuring efficiency and timeliness. Safety is paramount, and you are expected to uphold and promote safe work practices and foster a culture of safety among your team.
You will also serve as a problem solver for customers by providing support, handling product returns, and being empowered to enhance every customer's delivery experience. Job Requirements
- Valid drivers license with a safe driving record
- ability to pass DOT physical and drug screen (no THC) as legally permissible
- obtain a 6-month DOT medical card specific to the role
- basic English language skills (verbal and written)
- ability to work additional hours including overtime as needed
- ability to lift up to 70lbs and push/pull up to 400lbs with assistance
- wear safety composite shoes
- must be at least 21 years of age
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience
- minimum 1-year of truck driving experience operating a 16ft or longer straight truck or comparable driving experience
- high volume/small package delivery experience
- strong decision-making skills related to driving, parking, safety, and customer interactions
- ability to learn and utilize software applications including Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
- ability to use GPS and mobile Proof of Delivery devices
