The Lead SQL Server Development & DBA-Level Engineer role is crucial within Citi’s technology division, particularly in the Applications Development job family group. Operating full-time at the Irving, Texas location, this position commands a salary range of $125,760 to $188,640 annually, reflecting the advanced skills and leadership responsibilities involved. This role is tailored for an experienced engineer who specializes in Microsoft SQL Server environments, especially with very large databases (VLDBs). The candidate will lead initiatives to develop scalable and high-performance data solutions that support critical business objectives.

This leadership role entails a blend of hands-on technical expertise and the ability to mentor and guide junior team members. The successful candidate will manage and optimize very large databases on SQL Server version 2019 and above, focusing on performance tuning, query optimization, and advanced indexing strategies to ensure database reliability and efficiency. Collaboration with a dedicated DBA team is essential to maintain operational excellence and to promote best practices across the VLDB environment.

Additionally, the role oversees data loading and ETL development using Microsoft BI tools such as SSIS and SSAS. The lead engineer will mentor ETL developers, shaping the architecture of data pipelines to handle large-scale data volumes effectively. They will also be responsible for driving data architecture and modeling efforts to ensure data integrity, security, and performance within data warehouses.

Quality assurance through rigorous SQL code reviews and enforcement of best practices forms a key part of this position. The individual will manage database security, including entitlements, permissions, and encryption methods like Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), to safeguard sensitive information.
