Job Requirements

  • current work authorization
  • pass background check prior to appointment start date
  • ability to use cleaning chemicals safely and understand their interactions and disposal methods
  • knowledge of various custodial equipment and machinery
  • ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • willingness to work scheduled, unscheduled, and emergency overtime
  • ability to communicate effectively in English
  • ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • minimum of two years of custodial or housekeeping experience with floor care emphasis

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma
  • minimum of two years of experience in custodial or housekeeping operations with an emphasis on floor care
  • ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • knowledge of safe handling and disposal of cleaning chemicals
  • proficiency in using custodial equipment and machinery
  • ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team
  • ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • lead, guide, and perform custodial and housekeeping tasks to maintain campus facilities
  • clean, dust, strip, wax, sweep, mop, polish, disinfect, sanitize, vacuum, replenish restrooms, and remove refuse and recycling
  • oversee day-to-day custodial operations in supervisor's absence
  • act as a subject matter expert and provide leadership to custodial staff
  • maintain positive communication with colleagues, supervisors, faculty, staff, and students
  • safely use cleaning chemicals and equipment including stripping/buffing machines, vacuums, steam pressure washers, and carpet extractors
  • apply proper cleaning and maintenance procedures for various floor surfaces including resilient tile, carpet, and terrazzo
  • work scheduled, unscheduled, and emergency overtime including weekends, holidays, and varied shifts
