The role of Lead, Culinary for Innovation & Activations at Kraft Heinz represents a pivotal leadership position within the company's Away From Home (AFH) culinary strategy. This position is based in the Glenview R&D Center near Chicago and reports directly to advanced management in culinary innovation. As the Lead, Culinary, you will steer the AFH innovation culinary strategy by collaborating closely with marketing, sales, and research and development (R&D) teams to create growth opportunities and strengthen customer partnerships. You will be responsible for overseeing the creation and refinement of culinary prototypes, ensuring that products meet the highest culinary standards. This role places you at the heart of shaping culinary experiences by utilizing trend-based insights and developing educational content through the Kraft Heinz FoodLab.

You will lead and mentor a team of corporate chefs, acting as a brand ambassador and liaison between culinary teams and cross-functional groups. Your expertise will drive the development of new product concepts fueled by market-driven insights, enabling Kraft Heinz to stay ahead of culinary trends and consumer demands. You will manage culinary activations, events, tradeshows, and training programs, ensuring that every culinary interaction reflects the company’s dedication to quality and innovation.

Moreover, you will contribute to the strategic innovation pipeline by guiding culinary testing, commercialization, and the competitive analysis of products. The role requires strong organizational skills, leadership capabilities, and the ability to navigate ambiguity and complex information to create solutions that enhance Kraft Heinz's business outcomes. The compensation for the Lead, Culinary for Innovation & Activations position ranges from $141,500 to $176,900 annually and includes eligibility for a performance-based bonus. Job Requirements

  • Culinary degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of food service experience in diverse channels
  • 7+ years in a corporate culinary environment
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills
  • Ability to analyze complex information and create solutions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to travel extensively
  • Knowledge of commercial cooking equipment and food manufacturing processes

Job Qualifications

  • Culinary degree preferred or equivalent experience as a corporate chef, sous chef, or higher
  • 5+ years of experience in food service across various channels and 7+ years in a commercial or corporate culinary environment
  • Proven ability to navigate ambiguity and take ownership of business outcomes
  • Strong organizational agility and delegation skills
  • Demonstrated leadership with coaching and mentoring experience
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and remove roadblocks
  • Passion for continuous learning and culinary innovation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with live customer interactions and culinary demonstrations
  • In-depth understanding of commercial restaurant cooking equipment and culinary principles
  • Extensive knowledge of food ingredients and their applications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Willingness and ability to travel 50% or more

Job Duties

  • Collaborate with AFH marketing, sales, and innovation teams to develop and execute the culinary innovation strategy
  • Oversee the creation and refinement of culinary gold-standard prototypes, working closely with R&D scientists to guide products through testing and commercialization
  • Lead and mentor a team of corporate chefs, ensuring they deliver top-tier culinary expertise and capabilities
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to align growth projects with market needs and business objectives
  • Translate consumer-focused trends into product concepts, solutions, and recipes
  • Serve as a culinary brand ambassador, fostering relationships with external partners and creating collaborative ecosystems
  • Oversee culinary education sessions and manage the Kraft Heinz FoodLab, ensuring safety and hygiene standards compliance
