The Lead Cook (Union) role within Oak View Group is a vital position responsible for preparing high-quality, fresh food served to guests across the venue. This role not only involves hands-on cooking but also includes providing leadership, guidance, and direction to culinary and kitchen team members. The Lead Cook ensures that food preparation aligns with company recipes and portioning standards, maintaining the highest standards of sanitation, health, and safety in the kitchen environment. Compensation for this role ranges from $20.74 to $25.92 per hour, aligning with union agreements that also define the associated benefits package. The Lead Cook will work closely with the Executive Chef and Sous Chef, assisting in menu planning and food consumption estimation to optimize kitchen operations. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous culinary and food preparation experience
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Valid SNHD food handling card or ability to obtain
- Availability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, holidays and overnights
- Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Must maintain excellent attendance
- Ability to follow safety and sanitation standards
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Job Qualifications
- Previous culinary experience working in a high-volume food and beverage operation
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
- Able to operate standard kitchen equipment including broiler, steamer, convection oven, mixer, meat slicer and chef knife
- Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff and guests
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment
- Ability to obtain and possess valid SNHD food handling card
- Ability to work variable schedules including evenings, holidays, overnights and weekends as required
- Ability to lift 25 pounds
Job Duties
- Provide high quality, fresh food products in a timely manner for delivery to guests
- Prepare hot and cold foods following company recipes and portioning requirements
- Participate as a team player with specific responsibilities related to preparation, excellent service and delivery of product
- Report any maintenance required for kitchen equipment
- Maintain sanitation, health and safety standards in work areas
- Observe and test foods to ensure proper cooking
- Portion, arrange and garnish food plates for delivery to guests
- Consult with Executive Chef and Sous Chef to plan menus and estimate expected food consumption
- Demonstrate excellent attendance
