The company prides itself on a mission-driven and values-based culture, fostering a work environment where employees are valued and supported. With a strong focus on employee development, competitive compensation, and comprehensive benefits, Wegmans genuinely invests in the well-being and growth of its workforce.
This job opportunity is for a Culinary Leader role based in Chestnut Hill, MA, at the store located at 200 Boylston Street. This position is a full-time role with a pay rate ranging from $23 to $25.25 per hour, including the possibility of earning a bonus of up to $2,500. Shifts are flexible and cover mornings, afternoons, and evenings, including weekends, with some shifts starting as early as 6am. The role requires candidates to be at least 18 years of age.
As a Culinary Leader, you will play a pivotal role in the kitchen, acting as a team player and a positive role model. You will be instrumental in the development and education of cooks, assisting the Sous Chef in managing kitchen operations and employees. This involves overseeing quality assurance to ensure only the best products are served to customers. You will be responsible for following and enforcing proper cooking techniques and recipes to maintain the highest standards of food preparation, helping to deliver meals that set Wegmans apart. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about culinary arts who wants to work alongside some of the best culinarians in the industry.
This role is structured as an entry-level training program designed to be completed within six months, with ongoing support from a mentor and trainer. Upon successful completion of the program, the individual will be placed as a Lead Cook within the Restaurant Foods Kitchen area, continuing their career growth within Wegmans.
Key responsibilities include assisting the Sous Chef in running the kitchen, managing and training employees, ensuring consistent product quality, educating both customers and employees on meal solutions, and fostering employee performance through feedback and development opportunities. Wegmans also notes that applicants may be considered for multiple store locations within the specified region based on current openings.
Wegmans offers a comprehensive benefits package that aims to support employees' personal and professional lives. Benefits include paid time off (PTO) for work-life balance, higher premium pay rates for overtime, Sundays, and recognized holidays, robust health care benefits with affordable coverage, a retirement plan including a 401(k) match, a generous scholarship program to support educational goals, and the LiveWell Employee & Family program for emotional, work-life, and financial wellness support. These benefits align with Wegmans' philosophy of putting people first and fostering a supportive workplace environment.
The company values diversity and inclusiveness, emphasizing that its workforce is essential to achieving its goals. Wegmans is committed to providing equal employment opportunities and continuously aims to be a mission-driven company where employees can thrive, make a difference, and grow their careers.
