The role of Lead Cook/Sous Chef at Contimo is a critical position that supports the kitchen leadership and the entire culinary team. This role entails organizing, directing, and executing all activities related to the kitchen and back of house operations. In this capacity, the Lead Cook/Sous Chef will play a vital part in maintaining the high food quality standards, sanitation, and positive work environment that Contimo is known for. They will assist with daily mise-en-place preparations across all stations, manage inventory and product ordering, and help train and mentor kitchen staff. This mentorship includes coaching employees in alignment with company policies and labor compliance, ensuring professional development and a culture of respect within the team.

The ideal candidate for this role should bring a minimum of two years of culinary experience from a chef-driven restaurant, coupled with a high school diploma or equivalent education, and preferably culinary certification. Proficiency in English is essential, with communication skills in Spanish considered an advantage. Basic computer skills for managing ordering platforms and documentation are also necessary. Flexibility in scheduling, including availability for mornings, weekends, and some holidays, is a must.

Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Managing and assisting in preparing daily mise-en-place for all stations and expediting service
  • Assist in inventory management and product ordering
  • Assist in training, supervising and progressive coaching and counseling in coordination with management on company policies and HR/labor compliance
  • Provide mentorship to foster professional development for all hourly employees
  • Collaborate with management team to achieve food quality standards, sanitation and cleanliness through employee training and positive work environment
  • Support kitchen leadership and entire team by organizing, directing, and executing kitchen and back of house activities
  • Maintain high standards of food appearance and quality
