Job Description
Woodside Priory School is a prestigious independent Catholic college preparatory school located in California, known for its commitment to academic excellence, spiritual growth, and community values. Serving a diverse student body from grades 6 through 12, Woodside Priory School emphasizes a rigorous curriculum balanced with a strong focus on character development and extracurricular engagement. The school fosters an environment where students, faculty, and staff collaborate closely to promote lifelong learning and ethical leadership. The campus features state-of-the-art facilities, including classrooms, arts and athletic spaces, and dining services that uphold the same standards of quality and care as the academic programs. Woodside Priory's culinary team is an integral part of the school community, providing nutritious, thoughtfully prepared meals that support student health and well-being.
The role of Lead Cook at Woodside Priory School is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned culinary professional to contribute to an innovative and 'from-scratch' kitchen environment. This position is designed for individuals who thrive in settings that prioritize high-quality nutrition, creativity in food preparation, and adherence to stringent dietary standards. The Lead Cook will be responsible for preparing gourmet, seasonal meals that meet the fine-dining expectations of an elite educational institution. With a focus on fresh ingredients and meticulous presentation, this role requires a passion for culinary excellence and an attention to detail that ensures every meal served is both delicious and visually appealing.
This role involves managing diverse dietary needs with 100 percent accuracy, including gluten-free, vegan, and nut-free options, underscoring a high level of allergen awareness and food safety knowledge. Collaboration is a key component of the position, as the Lead Cook will work alongside the Chef to develop innovative menus tailored to the evolving preferences and nutritional requirements of the school's students and faculty. The role also demands expertise in operating advanced kitchen equipment, strict adherence to HACCP and local health regulations, and the ability to manage daily production records including leftovers and waste.
In addition to culinary skills, the Lead Cook at Woodside Priory School is expected to maintain exemplary standards of cleanliness and sanitation, overseeing the setup and breakdown of workstations and serving lines to exceed health department standards. Quality control will be ensured through precise portioning, seasoning, and presentation practices. This professional environment offers a unique blend of culinary artistry and institutional responsibility, ideal for those who seek to make a meaningful impact through their culinary expertise in a school setting.
