The available position is for a Lead Cook on a part-time basis, specifically every Tuesday from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm. The role involves preparing, seasoning, and cooking food for residents, employees, and visitors to Beaven Kelly Home, ensuring the highest standards of food quality and adherence to established recipes and menus. The Lead Cook not only performs hands-on cooking duties but also oversees the daily performance of other cooks, promoting food quality, presentation, and sanitation. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the dietary department’s daily operations, including stepping in for the Food Service Director when necessary. The Lead Cook is responsible for receiving orders, procuring necessary food items, and preparing a wide variety of dishes such as soups, entrees, and casseroles in accordance with recipes. This role demands a strong attention to detail to inspect and taste food for correct seasoning, quality, and temperature, ensuring timely preparation of all menu items and adjusting food production levels to meet demand. Additionally, the Lead Cook operates kitchen equipment including ovens, grills, toasters, fryers, mixers, and blenders, maintains records of food supplies and ingredients, and ensures proper storage and cleanliness of all work areas. Compensation for this part-time role ranges from $22.25 to $25.57 per hour, depending on the candidate’s verified experience and qualifications. Job Duties
- Oversee daily performance of cooks, promoting food quality, presentation, and sanitation
- ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- support daily operations of the dietary department in the absence of the Food Service Director
- receive orders, obtain necessary food items, and measure and mix ingredients for soups, entrees, casseroles, and more
- cook regular and diet menu items according to recipes
- inspect and taste food for correct seasoning, quality, and temperature
- ensure timely preparation of menu items and adjust food production levels as needed
