The role of Lead Cook at Vitality Living Overlook Community is a vital position that directly impacts the wellness and satisfaction of residents by preparing nutritious, appetizing, and visually appealing meals in line with company menus. As a Lead Cook, you will have the opportunity to bring your culinary skills to life in a supportive and engaging environment, where attention to food safety, quality, and presentation is paramount. This full-time position offers a chance to contribute to the success of an esteemed culinary team, led by the Culinary Services Director and Sous Chef, by taking responsibility for critical kitchen operations including menu review, food production recordings, and maintaining high sanitation standards.

Your responsibilities will extend beyond cooking to include complying with health regulations such as proper food storage, labeling, and maintaining cleanliness in preparation and service areas. Participation in ongoing training sessions, onboarding processes, team meetings, and adherence to food safety procedures are integral to this role. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Have two years of experience in institutional or full-service restaurant cooking
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Maintain food handlers permit and any other certifications as required by state or provincial regulations
  • Understand food safety procedures, sanitation of equipment measures, and storage techniques
  • Meet state or provincial health-related requirements

Job Qualifications

  • Two years of experience in institutional or full-service restaurant cooking
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Food handlers permit and any other certifications as required by state or provincial regulations
  • Understanding of food safety procedures, sanitation of equipment measures, and storage techniques
  • Ability to meet state or provincial health-related requirements

Job Duties

  • Review menus and daily food production records for instructions
  • Prepare meals that are nutritious, appetizing, and attractive according to company menus
  • Adhere to proper procedures for covering, dating, labeling, and storing food promptly
  • Clean kitchen after meals according to cleaning schedule, including preparation and service areas, pots and pans, kitchen surfaces, walls, and floors
  • Attend and participate in onboarding and annual training, in-services, and team member meetings as requested
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Culinary Services Director or Sous Chef
