This full-time Lead Cook position is located at Manchester University and offers an hourly pay range between $18.00 and $21.00. The role involves working varying shifts, and candidates with open availability are preferred to meet operational demands. The Lead Cook will play a pivotal role in Sodexo’s foodservice team as a key contributor responsible for creating and preparing nutritious and appealing dishes while maintaining high standards of customer service. In this role, the individual will be directly involved in cooking and portioning food items for different meal periods including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special catered events.

As a Lead Cook, you will be expected to have a passion for culinary excellence along with a genuine desire to deliver positive experiences for guests. Your responsibilities will include preparing food accurately and efficiently according to recipes and product guidelines, working at different stations including grill or a la carte, and occasionally supporting management in overseeing daily operations and staff. Being a team-oriented, adaptable, and reliable person is essential, as well as prioritizing a safe and healthy work environment for all team members.

Job Requirements

  • 3-4 years of related work experience preferred
  • Open availability to work varying shifts including days and hours
  • Ability to follow recipes and food safety guidelines

Job Duties

  • Accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and/or cold food items for various meal periods including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special/catered events
  • Read and follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing various food items
  • May prepare food and serve customers at an a la carte and/or operate a grill station
  • May support management in the daily oversight of key functions and employees during normal business operations
  • Attend work and show for scheduled shifts on time with satisfactory regularity
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on business necessities and client requirements
