The Lead Cook role at Aramark is a critical position responsible for managing kitchen operations, preparing quality food items, and ensuring the highest standards of food safety and sanitation are maintained. This leadership role requires proficiency in various cooking methods and the use of kitchen equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, and broilers. The Lead Cook not only prepares food following standardized recipes and production guidelines but also supervises kitchen staff, delegating tasks and ensuring smooth workflow. The role demands a strong understanding of food handling principles, cleanliness, and safety procedures to maintain a hygienic and safe kitchen environment.

In addition to hands-on cooking and food preparation, the Lead Cook is responsible for training and guiding team members on best practices, compliance with company policies, and delivering exceptional customer service. Job Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory experience in a related role preferred
  • Experience as a cook or in a related culinary role required
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Knowledge of food preparation principles, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations including proper food handling, sanitation, and storage
  • Food safety certification required
  • Basic math and counting skills
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal

Job Duties

  • Schedule and assign daily work activities to staff and supervise task completion
  • Train and guide staff on job duties, standard food safety and sanitation procedures, cooking methods, and related tasks
  • Cook and prepare food following production guidelines and standardized recipes
  • Set up workstations with all necessary ingredients and equipment
  • Prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items
  • Safely use all food utensils, including knives
  • Operate equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, and mixers
  • Bake, roast, broil, steam, and use a variety of cooking methods on meats, vegetables, and other foods
  • Arrange, garnish, and portion food according to established guidelines
  • Properly store food in compliance with food safety policies and procedures
  • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils
  • Maintain excellent customer service with a positive attitude toward guests, clients, co-workers, and customers
  • Follow Aramark safety policies and procedures, including food safety and sanitation
  • Ensure the security of company assets
  • Produce and maintain work schedules and prepare production records as needed
