The role of Lead Cook at the University of Saint Joseph, managed by Sodexo, is a pivotal position within the food services team. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 to 4 years of experience in a food service or culinary role
  • Availability for varying shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks associated with kitchen work
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work well within a team
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment

Job Duties

  • Accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and/or cold food items for various meal periods including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special/catered events
  • Read and follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing various food items
  • Prepare food and serve customers at an a la carte stations and/or operate a grill station
  • Support management in the daily oversight of key functions and employees during the normal course of business
  • Attend work and show for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
  • Ensure a healthy and safe working environment for all team members
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on business necessities and client requirements
