Job Description

Aramark is a global leader in food, facilities, and uniform services, committed to delivering exceptional experiences to millions of guests every day across 15 countries. Rooted in service and united by purpose, Aramark strives to make a positive impact on its employees, partners, communities, and the planet. The company values diversity and inclusiveness, providing equal employment opportunities without discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, gender identity, disability, or any other protected characteristics. With a workforce dedicated to teamwork and professionalism, Aramark fosters an environment where employees can develop their talents, fuel their passions, and advance their careers in a supportive and dynamic setting.

The Executive Dining Room at a prestigious New York City financial institution, operated by Aramark, is seeking a skilled Lead Cook to join its fine dining team. This role is ideal for an experienced cook looking to balance a high-quality kitchen environment with a more manageable work schedule. The position involves preparing and cooking food using standard recipes and production guidelines while maintaining strict food safety, handling, and sanitation procedures. The successful candidate will be proficient in safely handling kitchen knives and equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, and broilers. As a Lead Cook, the individual may also supervise and delegate tasks to kitchen staff, ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen according to client and business needs.

This role demands a candidate with at least five years of experience in a restaurant or hotel fine dining setting, preferably with a culinary school degree or comparable certification. The Executive Dining Room serves an evolving weekly à la carte menu, requiring meticulous attention to detail, high standards of quality and consistency, and the ability to multitask effectively. The position follows a Monday to Friday morning schedule with holidays off, including occasional evening events, providing a desirable work-life balance not often found in high-end kitchen roles.

Responsibilities include maintaining a clean, hygienic workspace, preparing food ingredients precisely, ensuring excellent food presentation and taste, and following all Aramark safety and sanitation policies. The Lead Cook must exhibit a positive, can-do attitude and excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, alongside a passion for food and cooking. This is a strategic role within the kitchen, requiring leadership capabilities to train, guide, and supervise staff, manage scheduling, and maintain production records.

Aramark offers a competitive hourly wage of $28.00 for this position along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement savings such as 401(k) plans, paid time off including parental leave, and disability coverage. Working at Aramark not only provides an opportunity to join a well-respected industry leader but also to grow professionally and contribute to a mission-based company that values sustainability and community involvement. Candidates with prior conviction or arrest records are also encouraged to apply, emphasizing Aramark's commitment to fairness and inclusivity in hiring practices.
