Job Description
Our company is a distinguished senior living community dedicated to providing high-quality culinary experiences that enhance the wellbeing and satisfaction of our residents. With a commitment to excellence, our establishment fosters a warm and inviting environment that supports the health and happiness of everyone we serve. As a premier community within the senior living industry, we emphasize the importance of compassionate service, rigorous food safety standards, and teamwork across all departments. We continuously seek professionals who share our passion for delivering superior dining experiences and who thrive in dynamic, resident-centered settings.
We are currently seeking a Lead Cook to work closely with our Executive Chef in planning food and beverage menus, scheduling shifts, and coordinating food preparation and service. This pivotal role involves overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen to ensure consistent quality, efficiency, and compliance with health and safety standards. The Lead Cook serves as a crucial link between kitchen staff and management, helping to maintain a smooth workflow and excellent communication among all team members. Scheduled to work Sundays and Mondays from 11:30 AM to 8:00 PM, as well as three days a week during peak dining service hours (around 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM), this position offers an engaging work schedule with an hourly wage of $30 to $32.
The Lead Cook is responsible for assigning detailed duties to kitchen staff, maintaining inventory integrity by ensuring deliveries are properly received, dated, rotated, and stored, and supervising sanitation and safety protocols in the kitchen. They are tasked with ensuring food is prepared, portioned, and served according to standardized recipes while participating in setup, service, and cleanup procedures. Additionally, the role involves assisting with safety training related to foodservice equipment and maintaining open communication with other departments to guarantee smooth daily operations.
A key aspect of the role is to periodically visit with residents to evaluate food quality, quantity, temperature, and presentation, making adjustments to service operations as needed to enhance the dining experience. Representing the community warmly, the Lead Cook contributes to creating a positive marketing environment that supports top-line revenue and occupancy growth. This position requires adaptability to a constantly changing environment, cooperation within the food and beverage team, and the highest levels of confidentiality and professionalism regarding resident and community information.
This role also includes incidental housekeeping and maintenance tasks to maintain a clean, safe, and pleasant environment for residents, visitors, and staff. The Lead Cook must show professionalism by accepting direction and correction through established chains of authority and participating in ongoing in-service training workshops.
