Job Description

Timber Ridge at Talus is a distinguished senior living community nestled at the base of Cougar Mountain in Issaquah, Washington. Renowned for being the East Seattle area’s premier Silver LEED-certified Life Plan Community, Timber Ridge combines sustainable living with an unparalleled lifestyle dedicated to the Pacific Northwest’s scenic beauty. Our residents, an adventurous and vibrant group of well-traveled seniors, engage in a variety of activities ranging from hiking local trails to socializing during exquisite meals, all while enjoying the community’s comprehensive and inclusive amenities. The facility stands out for its superior hospitality, all-inclusive lifestyle, and breathtaking surroundings, making it a unique place for seniors to call home. Our commitment extends not only to our residents’ well-being and quality of life but also to fostering a fulfilling work environment for our staff.

We are currently seeking a dedicated Lead Cook to join our Culinary Services/Food and Beverage Department on a full-time basis, offering a competitive pay rate of $26 to $30 per hour, depending on experience. The Lead Cook plays a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of food preparation and service within our Health Center. This position requires an experienced culinary professional who is proficient in following standardized recipes and adhering to specific dietary requirements to ensure that all meals are nutritious, appealing, and safely prepared. The Lead Cook is responsible for the accurate preparation of all food items, ensuring meal timeliness and quality consistency that meets the expectations of our senior residents.

The role demands leadership qualities as this individual will guide and mentor copious cooks, lead by example, and maintain a productive and harmonious workplace culture. Ensuring sanitation, safety, and quality standards are met at all times is paramount. Additionally, this position involves operational tasks such as inventory management, communication with the executive kitchen leadership, and upholding the facility’s health standards. This is a hands-on role that requires manual dexterity and physical stamina, including the ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs. You will be working in an environment where teamwork, professionalism, and attention to detail are essential.

Joining Timber Ridge at Talus means you will benefit from an engaging work environment with great team morale and strong professional development opportunities. Our staff enjoys an array of benefits including medical, dental, vision insurance, daily pay options, life and disability insurance, 401(k) with company match, health and flexible savings accounts, employee assistance programs, paid time off including holidays, pet insurance, retail and wireless discounts, tuition reimbursement, and transportation benefits like free Lyft rides and underground parking. We also offer gym access, shower facilities, and support for citizenship application reimbursement, emphasizing our commitment to your well-being and growth within the company. If you have a passion for culinary arts and a heart for service in senior living, we invite you to explore this rewarding opportunity with us today.
