This position is full-time and classified as a non-management role within the Food and Beverage and Culinary category. The role focuses on supporting the preparation and quality of food service operations at the Marriott Marquis Houston. The culinary associates in this position are responsible for a range of tasks such as preparing special meals or substituting products as needed, regulating cooking equipment temperatures, managing food thawing processes, ensuring appropriate portioning and garnishing, and maintaining thorough food-related records. Quality control plays a key role, as the associate must monitor both the quality and quantity of food prepared and communicate effectively with kitchen leadership about surplus food items to be used for daily specials or any rejected products that need to be reported to Food and Beverage staff.

Beyond day-to-day food preparation duties, associates assist with cold dish preparation and adhere to company safety protocols, including reporting accidents and unsafe conditions as well as participating in safety training and certification. Maintaining a professional appearance and confidentiality is essential, along with demonstrating excellent communication skills and positive teamwork to meet both guest expectations and operational standards. The position requires the physical ability to stand, walk, stretch, and lift or move objects up to 25 pounds, making it suitable for individuals with a good level of fitness and stamina. Associates may also be called upon to perform additional reasonable duties as requested by supervisors.
