As a well-established residential and care facility, Spring Lake Village focuses on enhancing the quality of life for seniors by offering comprehensive services that include healthcare, recreational activities, and exceptional dining options. With a commitment to resident satisfaction and wellbeing, the community fosters an environment of respect, comfort, and engagement. The team at Spring Lake Village prides itself on maintaining high standards of service and creating a welcoming atmosphere for residents, families, and visitors alike.
The Lead Cook 2 position at Spring Lake Village is a pivotal role within the Dietary Services department, integral to ensuring that residents receive culinary delights that not only meet but exceed their expectations. This part-time role, averaging 32 hours per week, is scheduled from 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM on Saturdays, Sundays, and two additional weekdays. Reporting directly to the Dietary Services Director or Executive Chef, the Lead Cook 2 acts as a key leader in the kitchen, overseeing food preparation and execution of menus with a focus on food quality, presentation, and taste.
The successful candidate will contribute to creating memorable dining experiences by adhering to health standards, managing food costs, and training kitchen staff. This role demands attention to detail, especially concerning food safety and sanitation regulations, ensuring that every dish served meets the highest standards of hygiene and culinary excellence. Additionally, the Lead Cook 2 is responsible for maintaining effective communication within the kitchen team and collaborating with dining room management and other departments to resolve issues and maintain smooth operations.
As a Lead Cook 2, you will have the opportunity to develop standardized recipes and assist with menu planning while overseeing the preparation of food at various kitchen stations including pantry and fry stations. Your leadership and organizational skills will be vital in ensuring food is prepared and served on schedule, while also maintaining the cleanliness and safety of kitchen equipment and work areas. This role requires proactive problem-solving capabilities, a commitment to safety guidelines, and the ability to supervise kitchen personnel—including cooks, assistant cooks, and food service workers—with fairness and professionalism.
Spring Lake Village offers competitive pay in the range of $25.84 to $30.63 per hour, reflecting the candidate's qualifications and experience. It also champions equal opportunity employment, promoting diversity and inclusivity within the workforce. Candidates must be prepared to complete pre-employment assessments including physicals, drug screening, and criminal background checks. This position is essential for those passionate about culinary arts in a community-focused environment where your skills directly contribute to enhancing residents' quality of life through exceptional food service.
