The Lead Cook position at Sodexo is a full-time role based in the Arthur J. Gallagher UPA facility located in Rolling Meadows. The role offers a competitive pay range of $20 to $24 per hour with weekday-only shifts, fostering a balanced lifestyle. In this role, the Lead Cook is responsible for preparing and presenting nutritious meals across various meal periods including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special catered events. Key duties involve ensuring food preparation meets high standards of taste and safety, following recipes precisely, and occasionally handling grill stations or a la carte services. The lead cook also plays an instrumental role in supporting management with daily operations and oversight of kitchen staff. Reliability, punctuality, and a positive attitude are crucial to success in this role.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 to 4 years of related work experience preferred
  • Ability to work weekday shifts
  • Must be punctual and dependable
  • Able to follow instructions
  • Capable of physical tasks related to cooking and kitchen work

Job Duties

  • Accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and/or cold food items for various meal periods including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special/catered events
  • Read and follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing various food items
  • Prepare food and serve customers at an a la carte and/or operate a grill station
  • Support management in the daily oversight of key functions and employees during the normal course of business
  • Attend work and show for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
  • Other duties may be assigned depending on business necessities and client requirements
