The Lead Cook position at BSWH Centennial is a critical role responsible for cooking and preparing food by following standard recipes and production guidelines, ensuring food safety, handling, and sanitation procedures are meticulously adhered to. This role requires the safe use of kitchen equipment, including grills, fryers, ovens, and broilers, as well as the proper handling of knives and food utensils. The Lead Cook not only contributes to the kitchen’s daily operations but also supervises and trains other kitchen staff, assigning work activities and ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and according to food safety standards. The role sometimes involves the preparation of schedules, production records, and maintaining security of company assets. This position is scheduled from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm and requires a commitment to maintaining excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards colleagues, guests, and clients.
In this role, the Lead Cook will be responsible for preparing a variety of meals by employing a range of cooking methods such as baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming meats, vegetables, and other foods. They must ensure all ingredients are properly measured, weighed, chopped, and processed as per recipe requirements. Additionally, this role requires maintaining clean and sanitized work areas and equipment to uphold the highest standards of hygiene and safety in the kitchen. Candidates must have a food safety certification and demonstrate strong knowledge of food preparation principles and sanitation procedures.

Job Requirements

Job Qualifications
- Previous supervisor experience in a related role preferred
- experience as a cook or related role required
- ability to work independently with limited supervision required
- proven knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as proper food handling, sanitation, and storage
- food safety certification required
- demonstrates basic math and counting skills
- demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Job Duties
- Schedules and assigns daily work activities to staff and supervises the completion of tasks
- trains and guides staff on job duties, standard food safety and sanitation procedures, cooking methods
- cooks and prepares food following production guidelines and standardized recipes
- sets up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
- prepares ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items
- safely uses all food utensils including knives
- operates equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers
- bakes, roasts, broils, steams, and uses a variety of cooking methods on meats, vegetables, and other foods
- arranges, garnishes, and portions food following established guidelines
- properly stores food by following food safety policies and procedures
- cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment, and utensils
- maintains excellent customer service with a positive attitude
- follows Aramark safety policies and procedures including food safety and sanitation
- ensures security of company assets
- produces and maintains work schedules and may prepare production records
