Job Requirements

  • high school graduation or its equivalent
  • vocational or on-the-job training in cooking
  • five years experience in food production and cooking in demanding schedules
  • ServeSafe certification maintained or obtained within 60 days of hire
  • ability to read, write and speak English
  • understand oral and written instructions
  • do simple arithmetic

  • cooking experience in hospitals and multi-site facilities preferred
  • familiarity with computer software programs such as Word Perfect and inventory/ordering systems preferred

Job Duties

  • execute service quality by maintaining highest level of delivery
  • assist in daily operations for food productions at all stations of the food service operation
  • assist in preparing and cooking foods to order required in the operation of a major patient-care and commercial cafeteria facility
  • comply with University Health System and Department policies and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
  • ensure proper care and use of foods, supplies, equipment and comply with safety, hygiene and sanitation regulations
  • maintain good guest and working relations
  • provide positive and constructive feedback to employees to reward, coach, correct and motivate
