This role, Lead Cook, is a key position within the kitchen team that demands both culinary skills and leadership qualities. The Lead Cook acts as the head of the kitchen in the absence of the Kitchen Manager or Chef, overseeing the preparation and presentation of food to ensure the highest quality standards are met consistently. The role requires strategic planning of food quantities based on anticipated customer volume, adherence to established operational manuals, and mentorship of kitchen staff. Mentoring responsibilities include training employees on kitchen procedures, presentation, sanitation, equipment usage, and cost controls.

Maintaining cleanliness, safety, and organization within the kitchen and related areas is crucial, complying with local health regulations as well as Lucky Strike’s own guidelines. The Lead Cook also plays a pivotal role in receiving supplies, verifying deliveries for quality and freshness, and properly storing perishable items with correct labeling and rotation to minimize waste.

The role further requires active participation in food line operations, ensuring that menu items are prepared exactly as specified and served promptly to maintain excellent customer service. Additionally, this position demands a proactive approach to creating a clean and safe work environment and fostering teamwork by assisting colleagues whenever necessary.

Work hours primarily include evening and night shifts with weekend availability, reflecting the nature of the entertainment industry and customer demand patterns. The role requires candidates to be at least 18 years old and mandates certification in Lucky Strike’s specific alcohol service and food safety programs within set timeframes after employment commencement.

Job Requirements

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age
  • Availability to work nights, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend for extended periods
  • Ability to lift objects with some assistance
  • Must complete alcohol service certification within 14 days of employment
  • Must complete food safety certification within 30 days of employment
  • Willingness to work part-time hours
  • Must be able to follow company operational manuals and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of three to five years of operational kitchen experience
  • Culinary or food management degree preferred
  • Experience leading and mentoring kitchen staff
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of workplace safety procedures
  • Ability to work varied shifts including evenings, nights and weekends
  • Certification in alcohol service and food safety programs within required timeframe
  • Strong communication and team leadership abilities

Job Duties

  • Plans and prepares food in appropriate quantities based on number of customers to be served using the Lucky Strike Entertainment operations manual and prep sheets
  • Assures all food orders are prepared, presented and delivered in accordance with the Lucky Strike Entertainment operations manual
  • Acts as a mentor to all kitchen staff and trains employees on procedures, presentation, sanitation, safe use of equipment and cost controls
  • Maintains sanitation and organization of cooking, storage, refrigeration and serving areas according to local and company guidelines
  • Checks calibration of cooking and refrigeration equipment weekly to ensure product quality and freshness
  • Washes, rinses and sanitizes dishes, cooking equipment and utensils following local and state health laws with approved sanitation products
  • Receives and inspects food and supply orders ensuring correct condition, temperature, product codes and matching invoices, stores perishables properly
  • Works the food line preparing menu items, supervises kitchen staff ensuring quality products
  • Proactively ensures a clean and safe environment at all times
  • Assists colleagues to prevent customer service delays
  • Responds promptly to customer questions or requests taking ownership and guiding to resolution
  • Completes required alcohol service and food safety certifications within specified timeframes
  • Works varying shifts including weekends and holidays to support business needs
