With a proud presence encompassing 28 communities spread across nine states and employing over 8,500 dedicated team members, Acts provides a wide range of comprehensive services designed to enhance the lifestyle of its senior residents. These services and amenities include independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing care, casual and fine dining options, beauty salons, fitness centers, security, healthcare, and a variety of engaging activity programs. The organizational culture at Acts is deeply rooted in the values of Loving-Kindness, fostering an environment that respects and appreciates the diverse backgrounds, talents, and contributions of every team member. This commitment to inclusivity and diversity ensures all employees are treated with fairness and respect, making Acts a preferred employer for those seeking a meaningful and rewarding career in senior care and hospitality.

The Lead Cook position at Acts Retirement-Life Communities offers a unique opportunity for culinary professionals who enjoy their craft but are seeking a work-life balance without the burden of late hours. This role is integral to the culinary team, acting as a key contributor to the brand's culinary culture, vision, and enduring success. The incumbent will prepare meals following established recipes and ensure that the kitchen operates smoothly during each meal service. Additionally, the Lead Cook will support training and development efforts for line cooks and prep staff, thereby fostering a collaborative and skilled kitchen environment.

One of the distinguishing features of this role is the onboarding partnership with Rouxbe Online Culinary School, which allows new hires to advance their culinary careers through comprehensive online courses. These courses offer nine transferable college credit hours upon completion, equipping team members with valuable skills and certifications that promote long-term professional growth from the very beginning. Acts emphasizes a food philosophy that balances passion and fun in preparing a diverse menu that includes fresh, healthy options alongside more indulgent choices, adapting to seasonal trends and customer preferences.

Work at Acts comes with significant benefits designed to support employees beyond the workplace. These include next-day pay through the PayActiv program, which fosters financial well-being, tuition reimbursement, commuter benefits, scholarship awards, professional development programs, and partnerships with universities. Additional team member benefits include referral and discount programs, wellness initiatives, and appreciation events, all aimed at creating a supportive and enriching work environment. The compensation for the Lead Cook role ranges from $19.57 to $24.17 per hour, with the starting rate influenced by the candidate’s skills and experience. This position is well suited to experienced culinarians who thrive in full-service culinary settings and wish to contribute meaningfully to a community-focused organization dedicated to senior living excellence.
