The role of Food Production and Cooking Assistant is pivotal in maintaining the highest standards of food service quality within University Health System. This position involves assisting with all daily food preparation and cooking tasks at various service stations. Responsibilities include complying with all safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations while preparing nutritious meals for patients and the commercial cafeteria. The role demands commitment to food safety and proper resource management, requiring the individual to handle foods, supplies, and equipment responsibly. The person in this role must help ensure that the food service operation achieves its daily production targets with accuracy and efficiency, supporting a smooth and timely service delivery.

Job Requirements

  • high school graduation or equivalent
  • vocational or on-the-job training in cooking
  • five years experience in food production and cooking
  • ability to read, write, and speak English
  • ability to understand oral and written instructions
  • ability to perform simple arithmetic
  • ServeSafe certification maintained or obtained within 60 days of hire

Job Qualifications

  • high school graduation or equivalent
  • vocational or on-the-job training in cooking
  • five years experience in food production and cooking in demanding schedules
  • cooking experience in hospitals and multi-site facilities preferred
  • computer knowledge and familiarity with software programs such as Word Perfect and inventory/ordering systems preferred
  • ability to read, write, and speak English
  • ability to understand oral and written instructions
  • ability to perform simple arithmetic
  • ServeSafe certification required
