This role offers full-time employment within Compass Connections, with a clear emphasis on food service safety, sanitary conditions, and providing excellent support to the community. The position requires fluency in both English and Spanish, ensuring effective communication in a diverse, multicultural environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for upholding all federal, state, and local food safety regulations while maintaining sanitary kitchen and dining areas. Candidates must be prepared to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. The role also involves meticulous record-keeping for USDA and NSLP meal services, alongside routine maintenance of kitchen equipment and supply inventories.

Applicants must have at minimum a high school diploma or equivalent, although an associate degree or college coursework is preferred. Certification in first aid, CPR, and emergency behavior intervention is required to ensure safety preparedness in all situations. This position values previous experience, ideally two or more years, in related food service or training roles. Job Requirements

  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment
  • Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request
  • Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background checks
  • Respond sensitively and competently to the service population's cultural and socio-economic characteristics
  • Provide excellent customer service using organizational and planning skills
  • Maintain the highest standard of personal hygiene
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times
  • Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position
  • Distinguish small details and markings near the observer
  • Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of all Compass Connections policies and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • Fluency in English and Spanish
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate degree or two or more years of college-level coursework preferred

  • Six months of related experience required
  • Two plus years of related experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Maintain sanitary conditions in work and food service areas that meet or exceed all licensing and policy requirements
  • Operate kitchen equipment and report any malfunctioning equipment immediately
  • Produce a standard food product by weighing and measuring ingredients accurately
  • Maintain knowledge of materials and equipment used in food preparation and cooking
  • Implement Compass Connections safety protocols including evacuating with children and other staff in case of an emergency
  • Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary or requested by the position supervisor
  • Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the service population and program operations
