The role of Lead Concierge at Barnes-Jewish Hospital represents a pivotal position within the hospital's support services. Reporting to the concierge department leadership, this full-time, benefit-eligible role offers a competitive hourly salary ranging from $18.00 to $27.35, dependent upon the candidate's qualifications and experience. Scheduled to work Wednesday through Saturday from 10:30 AM to 9:00 PM, the Lead Concierge will oversee and coordinate the daily activities and staffing of the concierge team to ensure that all service lines at Barnes-Jewish Hospital receive consistent and effective coverage. This position is integral to facilitating smooth hospital operations, elevating the patient and visitor experience, and acting as a liaison across multiple departments and external contacts.
Primary responsibilities include managing daily concierge assignments, tracking and maintaining detailed database information regarding concierge activities, and directing orientation and ongoing training programs for new and current concierge staff. The Lead Concierge is expected to build and nurture strong relationships with internal stakeholders such as hospital administration, nursing leadership, foundation staff, and external volunteers. This role also requires coordinating the VIP process to ensure effective communication and seamless service delivery for distinguished guests. Additionally, the Lead Concierge manages lodging accommodations by collaborating with local hotels, maintaining updated lodging lists, assessing availability, and monitoring overall room night activity.
The position demands strong organizational skills and effective communication, as the Lead Concierge will conduct presentations to raise awareness about the concierge services among staff, departments, and external customers at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University. By leading the concierge program, including staff mentoring and evaluating process and performance improvements, the Lead Concierge helps advance hospital service excellence initiatives. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to creating a welcoming environment for patients, families, and hospital visitors by ensuring that concierge services operate efficiently and with a high degree of professionalism.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 5-10 years of relevant work experience
- Availability to work Wednesday through Saturday from 10:30 AM to 9:00 PM
- Strong computer and database management skills

Job Duties
- Oversees daily assignment of concierge staff to ensure adequate coverage
- Provides database management and tracking of concierge statistics
- Directs new concierge training program and ongoing staff mentoring

- Coordinates VIP process by integrating communication with administration, nursing leadership and Foundation
- Maintains lodging lists and establishes relationships with hotel sales people
- Directs the daily operations of the concierge office including task completion and patient meet and greets
