This role of Lead Concessions Worker is a vital support position within the Covey Center for the Arts. This position involves overseeing and actively participating in the concessions sales before, during, and after live performances. The successful candidate will be responsible for selling food and beverage items at the concessions counter, processing orders efficiently both in-person and, in the near future, online. Managing money handling tasks such as counting cash and balancing daily deposits forms a key component of the job. Beyond sales, the Lead Concessions Worker is expected to assist with crowd control before, during intermission, and after performances to ensure smooth operations and positive customer experiences. Duties also include scheduling other concessions staff, ordering product inventory, and maintaining cleanliness in the concessions area and theater. This role requires a friendly and cheerful disposition to interact positively with patrons and the public. It occasionally demands handling stressful situations calmly and performing minor lifting of boxes and cases of food and beverages. Physical agility and strength to meet the demands of the job are necessary. Hours typically involve evenings and weekends, averaging about 20 hours weekly, with most shifts aligning with performance schedules and occasional matinees. An ideal candidate will have some previous experience in food handling and cashiering and will be comfortable using technology for order processing and scheduling.
