Job Description

Ulta Beauty, the largest North American beauty retailer and a premier beauty destination, offers an inspiring environment where energy, passion, and excitement converge to create exhilarating buying experiences for true beauty enthusiasts. With a comprehensive selection of more than 25,000 products from approximately 500 well-established and emerging beauty brands, including Ulta Beauty's own private label, the company continues to transform the beauty industry. Each store features a full-service salon providing hair, skin, brow, and makeup services, making Ulta Beauty a unique one-stop destination for all things beauty. Their online platform extends accessibility, enhancing the beauty discovery experience for customers both inside and outside of their physical locations.

At Ulta Beauty, the culture is defined by a commitment to vision, mission, and lived values where associates’ voices are heard, contributions valued, and individual growth opportunities abound. The company actively supports diversity, inclusion, and fair hiring practices, including accommodating applicants with criminal histories in compliance with local laws.

The role of Lead Cashier (LC) at Ulta Beauty is fundamental to ensuring smooth, efficient guest transactions and maintaining exceptional cashwrap standards, which include cleanliness and overall aesthetics. This position requires an experienced cashier who is proactive, able to lead, influence peers, and uphold a high standard of customer service and operational excellence. The Lead Cashier plays a critical role in driving store results by focusing on performance, people, and processes. Performance responsibilities include meeting sales goals, enhancing guest loyalty through effective communication about loyalty programs, handling sales transactions accurately, and contributing to the reduction of retail shrinkage.

On the people front, the Lead Cashier fosters an inclusive and supportive environment for both guests and associates. They assist with training new cashiers, cross-training others in cashiering, and leading colleagues to meet and exceed store credit and loyalty objectives. The individual must be knowledgeable about current beauty trends, products, and services in order to provide informed recommendations and personalized service to guests.

Process-wise, the Lead Cashier ensures compliance with Ulta Beauty’s operational policies, standards, and dress code. Responsibilities include opening and closing cash registers, managing cash and media controls, maintaining cleanliness across the store, and implementing loss prevention measures to protect company assets. This role demands outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Working as a Lead Cashier at Ulta Beauty requires mobility, the ability to frequently bend, lift items up to 25 pounds, and work a flexible schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. This position is reserved for individuals aged 18 and above. Overall, the Lead Cashier is not only a transactional role but a leadership one that directly impacts store performance and enhances the overall guest experience by delivering exceptional, personalized service aligned with Ulta Beauty's vibrant brand and culture.
