The Lead Cashier role at Ulta Beauty is a pivotal position responsible for ensuring the efficiency of guest transactions while maintaining exemplary cashwrap standards including cleanliness and aesthetic appeal. This role requires an experienced cashier who not only manages daily cashiering tasks but also supports the training and cross-training of other associates. The Lead Cashier plays an integral role in driving loyalty results by focusing on sales performance, guest experience, and the development of associates. The role involves collaborating with the leadership team on open and close register functions and cashier chat in/outs, assisting with associate exit inspections, and engaging every guest with Ulta Beauty's Loyalty Life Cycle benefits.
The Lead Cashier contributes directly to meeting or exceeding the store's goals related to retail and service sales, omni-channel initiatives, guest loyalty (including credit), and retail shrink management. Exceptional guest service is a hallmark of this position, requiring personalized engagement, product recommendations, and facilitating makeup applications, skincare analyses, and product demonstrations to elevate the guest experience. Additionally, Lead Cashiers are responsible for booking appointments, supporting in-store events, and ensuring that all cashwrap displays, supplies, and impulse fixtures are guest-ready at all times.
This role also champions creating an inclusive and supportive environment for teammates and guests alike. The Lead Cashier supports the leadership team by performing cashier chat ins and chat outs as well as associate exit inspections when needed. Continuous learning is encouraged through ongoing training in brand and category education to drive both personal and store sales growth. The Lead Cashier must be knowledgeable about industry trends, ingredients, and product benefits to better inform and excite guests about Ulta Beauty's offerings.
Operationally, the Lead Cashier ensures compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards, including proper cash control and transaction completion. Maintaining store standards through cleanliness and organization extends beyond the cashwrap area to the entire sales floor, restrooms, backrooms, and break areas. The role also supports loss prevention and workplace safety efforts by adhering strictly to operating procedures.
Candidates for this position should be at least 18 years old and able to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Physical requirements include continuous mobility throughout the store and the ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds. Job Qualifications
- High school diploma preferred
- Two years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination
