The Lead Cashier at Ulta Beauty plays a critical role in enhancing the guest experience through efficient and friendly service at the cashwrap area. This position is responsible not only for processing transactions but also for maintaining high standards of cashwrap cleanliness, aesthetic presentation, and overall operational excellence. A seasoned cashier, the Lead Cashier trains new cashiers and cross-trains other team members, demonstrating leadership that supports effective collaboration and influences peers positively. This role is integral in driving store performance through focus areas including sales, guest loyalty programs (such as credit offerings), and exceptional customer service. The Lead Cashier champions Ulta Beauty’s core values by engaging guests with personalized service, recommending products and services suited to their needs, and supporting store events that elevate the shopping experience.

In addition to operational duties, the Lead Cashier supports the store's leadership team with tasks such as register opening and closing, associate inspections, and managing cashier shift handovers. The role requires a passion for delivering memorable guest experiences, complying thoroughly with company policies and procedures, and contributing proactively to achieving the store's sales and operational goals. Candidates for this position should be adaptable and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced retail environment, handle guest concerns professionally, and actively promote the benefits of Ulta Beauty’s loyalty program to boost engagement and sales. This position requires a flexible schedule including availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. The role is designated for candidates aged 18 or over due to job responsibilities. Work includes mobility and physical activity such as bending, lifting, and standing throughout the shift.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred
  • 2 years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience preferred
  • Ability to delegate, multi-task, and problem-solve
  • Experience in guest service and competency for selling
  • Experience in addressing guest concerns professionally
  • Experience in meeting and exceeding sales goals
  • Experience training new employees
  • Proficient with POS systems and basic technology
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Job Duties

  • Contribute to meeting or exceeding the store’s goals related to retail and service sales, omni-channel, guest loyalty, and retail shrink
  • Ensure exceptional service by greeting and engaging each guest, personalizing service, and recommending products or services
  • Courteously handle sales, refunds, and exchanges
  • Book appointments and support in-store events to enhance guest experience and sales goals
  • Maintain organization and replenishment of cashwrap displays, supplies, and impulse fixtures
  • Support leadership with cashier shift handovers and associate exit inspections
  • Train new cashiers and cross-train associates, leading peers to achieve peak productivity and performance
