The Lead Cashier (LC) role at Ulta Beauty plays a crucial part in delivering an outstanding guest experience and maintaining the high standards of cashwrap operations. This position requires an experienced cashier who not only excels in transaction efficiency but also possesses leadership abilities to train new cashiers and cross-train other associates. The Lead Cashier is responsible for driving sales, enhancing loyalty results including credit programs, and ensuring compliance with operating procedures and company standards. By focusing on guest service, associate development, and operational excellence, the LC contributes to both sales growth and store culture. The role involves aiding store leadership with open and close register functions, conducting cashier chat-ins and chat-outs, and performing associate exit inspections. With a pay range of $16.90 to $24.75 per hour, the Lead Cashier role offers flexible scheduling including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, and pays overtime where applicable. Full-time associates are eligible for paid time off and health-related benefits including dental, vision, life insurance, and disability coverage, while part-time associates receive dental, vision, life, and disability benefits. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred
  • Two years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Ability to perform continuous mobility throughout the store during shifts
  • Frequent bending, pulling, pushing, crouching, stooping, twisting, and reaching
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs
  • Must adhere to company dress code
  • Commitment to uphold company policies, procedures, and standards

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma preferred
  • Two years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
  • Proven ability to delegate, multi-task, and problem-solve
  • Demonstrated knowledge and passion for guest service and selling
  • Experience addressing guest concerns promptly and professionally
  • Record of exceeding sales goals and training new hires
  • Proficient with Point of Sale systems and Apple devices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Job Duties

  • Contribute to meeting or exceeding store goals related to retail and service sales, omni-channel, guest loyalty including credit, and retail shrink
  • Ensure exceptional guest service by greeting and engaging each guest, personalizing service, and recommending products and services
  • Courteously handle sales, refunds, and exchanges
  • Book appointments and support in-store events that enhance guest experience and drive sales
  • Maintain the organization and replenishment of cashwrap displays and supplies to ensure guest readiness
  • Assist in training new cashiers and cross-training associates
  • Support store leadership by completing cashier chat-ins, chat-outs, and associate exit inspections as needed
